Rights and improvements

You have the opportunity to put your own stamp on the home to suit your needs. This is the so-called right of occupancy, which opens up the possibility of interior improvements and changes.

Improvements with the right of disposal

When you live in a rented public housing unit, you have the right to make internal improvements to your home. This is the so-called right of occupancy. You can, for example, use the right of occupancy to make changes to or modernise the kitchen or bathroom, or to, for example, merge two rooms or divide a large room into two.

Once you move out of your home, you can be reimbursed for part of your expenses for the improvements – just remember to save the receipts so you can document the improvements you have made.

You should always contact the Haderslev service center before you start, as the housing company must approve the improvements you want to makeYou can also apply for permission using our form. You will receive the approval in writing.

Installations

You (almost) always have the right to install white goods in your home. However, the housing department may object if the property's electrical and drainage capacity is not sufficient for the installations. Therefore, remember to notify the service center before installing white goods such as:

  • Washing machine
  • Tumble dryer
  • Dishwasher
  • Refrigerator

Under special circumstances, you have the right to install a radio and TV antenna/satellite dish on the property according to the housing association's instructions. Ask at the service center.
