You have the option of subletting your social housing if you have to move out of it for a period of time for various reasons. You can also sublet a room.
Subletting the entire home
You can sublet your entire home for up to two years, after which you must move back or terminate the lease – the person who has sublet your home cannot simply take it over. You must always apply for permission to sublet your home from Haderslev Boligselskab.
You can only sublet the entire home for one of four reasons:
- Illness
- Business trip
- Study stay
- Temporary relocation or similar
You must be able to document the reason why you want to sublet.
Once you have ensured that you meet the rules, you and the person you want to sublet your home to must fill out an electronic form, which you must sign with NemID.

Subletting parts of the home
For example, if you want to sublet a room, you do not need to give Haderslev Boligselskab a reason - however, you still need to apply for permission.
Haderslev Boligselskab must also have a copy of the sublease agreement before your tenant moves in, as well as a certificate showing how many people and who are registered at the address. You must order the certificate from Citizen Service at your local municipality.
Additionally, the total number of people living in the home must not exceed the number of living spaces.
For example, if you have a three-room apartment, a maximum of three people can live in it.
